 Chinchero, is one of the districts of Urubamba province, department of Cusco, which maintains a force from their ancestors Andean artisan culture and customs handed down from generation to generation.

Chinchero, remains the land of the rainbow. Summit Village is nestled under a sun cream, stone people with wrinkles and one of the few in Cusco where old customs still talk of the Inka.

 

LOCATION

Chinchero, located 30 km northwest of Cusco, at an altitude ranging between 3700-4500 msnm.

 

WEATHER

Chinchero has a relatively cold climate. There are two distinct seasons, the rainy season that occurs during the months of October through April, and the dry season in the months of May through September.

This new alternative experiential tourism in Ccorimarca community, is a unique, wonderful and fascinating, where you enjoy the conviviality of their customs and ancestral traditions of the inhabitants of Ccorimarcara.

 

1ST DAY: CUSCO-CHINCHERO

Pick up at the hotel very early, and then address the people of Chinchero, will visit the archaeological park and the colonial temple of Chinchero, which highlights the paintings of the Cusco School. Following the tour will skirt Piuray lagoon where we will appreciate the beautiful scenery of flora and fauna. Following the route we will stop in the natural viewpoint of Ccorimarca community where we will observe the snowy chain of Vilcabamba.

Continuing the tour will reach Ccorimarca community where we will visit the homes of local families, and we will have lunch, where the guide will explain about the customs and traditions that keep for years. We will also help with chores and be part of daily life of villagers.

 

2ND DAY: VISIT TO THE FAMILIES OF TEXTILE WORKSHOP-CUSCO

After breakfast we will walk around the houses to collect dye plants for dyeing, and then visit the workshop to assess the textile process, where we show the local families.

Today we witness the greatness of this ancient and glorious past, which perpetuates in time that speaks to us and tells his story, he says he is still alive and legacy, rebuilding with their hands, the past.

In Ccorimarca community, still practice the same form of textile production for hundreds of years, using techniques inherited from their ancestors. In its iconography reflected scenes of everyday life as well as animals and plants in their environment.

After the visit to observe handicrafts and textiles made by the same people in the area. Then a typical lunch.

In the afternoon we returned to the city of Cusco.
