DAY 01: Arrival in Lima

Arrival in Peru's capital Lima, reception at the airport by the travel agency representative who will welcome you and make the corresponding transfer to the selected hotel. Overnight in Lima

 

DAY 02: Lima / City tour

Breakfast, we start the morning with a City Tour of Lima We will visit the most important and characteristic of the city , with their typical features of the colonial era , such as the Main Square , Government Palace , the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace , Municipality of Lima , Desamparados (homeles) train  station and old streets and Classic Colonial era mansions and Moorish balconies , then we will take a tour of Church San Francisco with its majestic Convent and Catacombs Art Museum . Leaving Lima Antigua, we will go to San Isidro and Miraflores, to El Mirador or Parque del Amor making a contrast between ancient and modern Lima, And for lunch we will enjoy the best of the peruvian food from the coast Overnight in Lima.

 

Day 03: Arequipa - City Tour ( d )

Breakfast, transfer to the airport towards the city of Arequipa. Reception on arrival and transfer to accommodation. In the afternoon, a city tour that includes a visit to the Monastery of Santa Catalina. The Santa Catalina Convent opened in 1970 is one of the most remarkable constructions of the city. Its walls hide 400 years of history. The city has Spanish style buildings and ancient churches built upon ashlar, which is white volcanic stone that has been used in the construction of the city of Arequipa. Overnight in Arequipa.

 

DAY 04: Arequipa / Colca Canyon ( d )

Very early after breakfast, we leave the city of Arequipa taking the northern route towards Yura. The tour will visit the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca to watch vicuñas, llamas and alpacas in the wild. In Pampa Cañahuas we can see different types of birds flamingos, herons, Andean geese , ducks, eagles of the Andes " kara kara" , then we will get to the viewpoint of the volcano where we will have a privileged view of snow-covered mountains in Patapampa ( m. 4800 -15 000 feet ) . Arrival to Chivay Capital of the valley, lunch and accommodation at the hotel. In the evening as an option we can visit the hot springs of " La Calera " (kind of a natural jacuzzi) at a temperature of 40 ° celsius. It is believed that its waters have medicinal properties. Overnight in Yanque or Chivay.

 

DAY 5: Chivay / Colca Canyon / Arequipa ( d )

After breakfast, we begin our journey along the left bank of the river Colca. We will visit beautiful typical villages like Yanque and Maca with colonial churches.We will be able to contact the friendly people who still wear costumes they embroider themselves. In the tour we will see hundreds of platforms or pre -Inca terraces that are still used and where they grow corn, quinoa, amaranth, etc... In the viewpoint of the "Cruz del Condor" we appreciate the depth of the canyon and the flight of the majestic condor, also observe litho-scale-model plans (litomaquetas) and pre -Inca tombs. After lunch on your own,  you will be transferred from Chivay at 13:30 approx. to the city of Puno. Arrival and transfer to the respective housing.

 

DAY 06: Puno / Uros Islands and Taquile ( d , a)

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Puno in the morning, from here you will take a two -hour motor boat excursion on Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating Uros Island. These ancient inhabitants of the lake are known as the Water Tribe, because they must construct their own Islands periodically, adding new layers of a type of reed unique called "Totora”. Their homes and boats are also made of this material. We continue our journey by motor boat to Taquile Island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed an efficient and unique social system, a system of weaving techniques which has existed through generations. You need to climb a 567-step stairs to reach the center of Taquile, where we take a break for lunch in a typical inn. In the afternoon we take our boat back to Puno again appreciating all the beautiful sunset at Lake Titicaca. Overnight in Puno.

 

DAY 07: Puno / Cusco - Tour with stops en route ( d , a)

Breakfast very early, around 07:30 am, then private transfer to the bus station to  take a bus with service on board to go to Puno, of course through a scenic route. Four tour stops are made with an additional stop for lunch. The route is as follows.

Pukara - Puno:It is the most important and oldest ceremonial center of the south andean highlands (altiplano), even beforeTiahuanaco culture It is characterized by a series of stepped platforms that resemble a pyramid called kalasasaya, culminating in a flat ceremonial center. You can also see impressive litho - sculptures, stelae and tombstones of members and characters that appear to show evidence of a brave civilization. This is where we discover the origins of Andean culture in the Altiplano (south andean range).

LA RAYA: Midpoint in Cusco - Puno is the highest part of the journey and it is located at an altitude of 4335 m. Here we can see beautiful inter-andean mountains and landscapes, also you can view the birth of the Amazon River, llamas, alpacas and vicuna. This area represents the geographical connection between two cultures, the Aymara and Quechua , here you can see a dry arid plateau in conjunction with the Quechua area rivers and streams.

RAQCHI ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX: At about 117 km from the city of Cusco. Raqchi (3485 m) is a small village of farmers and potters in which a group of families have adapted their homes to welcome tourists in a novel experiential tourism program. It is dated back to the fifteenth century and considered by historians as one of the most audacious Inca constructions. The Temple of Viracocha outstands, with 100 m long and 20 m wide, which is made of adobe walls of volcanic stone foundations. The complex also includes an area of housing for the Inca nobility and dozens of circular rooms for food storage.

ANDAHUAYLILLAS: In this area you will visit st. Peter's church of Andahuaylillas which is known as the "Sistine Chapel" of America and a mayor attracction for visitors due to the quality of their artwork. It was built by the Jesuits in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Its architectural structure is that one of classic small town churches. Its walls are broad, typical colonial buildings made of mud bricks dried in the sun, a facade adorned with murals and two stone columns projected towards the main gate. While its architecture is relatively modest, the interior decoration is of the most impressive.

 

DAY 09: Cusco / Sacred Valley of the Incas (d, a)

After breakfast, we start at about 9 am. , we will pick you up at your hotel to have a guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Urubamba for a panoramic view of the Inca citadel of Pisac and a visit to the typical Indian market in Pisac (only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), where we have the opportunity to learn about the customs of its people, then we will be headed to the City of Urubamba. Lunch at a local restaurant in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Afternoon visit to the Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes of the jungle. It was a military, religious and cultural site during the Inca Empire. Then transfer to Ollantaytambo train station to get to Aguas Calientes, so take advantage of visiting the ruins the next day very early in the morning. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

 

DAY 10: Cusco / Machu Picchu Excursion (d, a)

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel, we will be headed to the bus station, to ascend 400 meters high, by a zig zag path for 20 minutes to reach the incredible wonder of the world " The Sanctuary of Machupicchu “, known as " the Lost City of the Incas". When you get to the citadel of Machu Picchu, we will begin our guided tour, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries around for more than two hours .

In the afternoon, take the train back to Cusco , once you arrive at the train station, we will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco

 

DAY 11: Cusco / Lima - Departure ( d )

Breakfast and transfer to airport for your flight to Lima and connect with your international flight.
